New Commercial Product. An artsounds dimension of Hatcham Social’s Toby Kidd and Finn Kidd, NCP played their first live show this year at the fab Pandamonium events by Fierce Panda.

Intergalactic pop beats entice you into no ordinary EP release from the first chords of ‘Buffoon In A Suit’. Is this how it works?” Layers of avant punk jazz then weave into what sounds like a house party of musicians uniting a talking heads groove by contributing sounds from different rooms.

The hipswinging veers to introspective recent single, ‘Imaginary Borders’, pondering if “are we less than human” while soundtracking the film noir reality of our increasingly grave new world. Like a goth Beta Band, there are cinematic vocals, wind sections and poetic melancholia augmented by tuneful visage-haunts by Charlotte Marionneau (Le Volume Courbe, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds).

Nah, not going to be able to walk around some places without psyche gem - ‘Middle Class Murder Street’. -popping into mind with it’s off tangent trippy hippy angled pulped and popped rhythms. The interweave of horned hooks invokes a classic, but 21st century, Old Grey Whistle Test appearance.

Until They Become Conscious They Will Never Rebel. Dub n buzzed guitar-grace an expanse of song that something in the lake would appreciate. This stated fact as song is the exit music of an EP that paints vivid pictures with vivid music.

Self composed, performed, produced and presented. Ethical artbeat poetry and a musical inventory of the auditory, extraordinary! NCP summon every decade (and possibly genre) of popular music into fresh bloom, released via Crocodile Records which is a collective of mutual aid for grassroots music. This is uniqulture in action.

New Commercial Product have very much to say about the state of Earth and Earthlings. This EP lyricises a gateway glimpse to a grander, artist community vision of empathy with no imaginary borders to creativity.

Their shared, non-corporate soul at heart, Toby Kidd and Finn Kidd are putting their souls where their wealth of musical ideas are, with good causes from great song crafting. The Kidds are alright.
