Big In 2023. Big In Music History/Future

#BigIn2023

Highly influential taste makers, This Feeling announce their 'Big in 2023' Tour Picks. Every name selected is a virtual nomination. Every date feels like an awards after party. The prize is a very good time, even better possibilities and new friends made. Repeatedly proven.

By now, there is a festival’s worth of names who have gone onto bigger stages, mainstream deals, become festival favourites etc from playing This Feeling shows early doors. In short, feeding the music industry of the future’s pipeline with fresh talent, ideas and a genuine community of artists and audiences.

All shows are £8 via www.thisfeeling.co.uk/bigin2023

Haste advised, because these hotty tickets sell out in advance. Let’s face it, it’s gonna be at least a tenner just to see ONE of these bands in the near future.

34 acts in 7 grassroots venues proving they’re worthy of future big big stages. A trusted talent spotter, This Feeling goes beyond the call of duty to keep next-levelling artists to prestige events, sessions and wider media recognition.

“Big In” shows are the annual gathering of now and future music industry/media trainees, independent or otherwise, to cut their teeth scouting, reporting or just enjoying. “The Zone” is known as a safe space for solo adventurers just to enjoy some live music, too. So many good hearts. I am writing all of this from experience, This Feeling are one of the inspirations that drive this documentary of whimsical situationism. We’re still adapting to this new world of Pandemic madness after 2020, 2021, 2022. Look at what new music achieved (despite dystopia) with mutual support/sharing and realise what we’re capable of when we look out for each other.

“With all these strikes and public unrest, it really feels like the tide is turning. Tory’s bringing in legislation to prevent protesting seems like they are running scared possibly being over optimistic here but really feels like something is happening in the public psyche”
@Dictator_Band tweeted, 17th January

We have a “reality” soundtracked by arena sized/cult potential songs in grassroots music spaces, running smoothly into Independent Venue Week on a circuit which This Feeling events have consistently enriched with presence and alumni. What’s not to love?

The fact that this year’s event takes place with a backdrop of Music Venue Trust (another This Feeling ally) heading up the #savebbcintro campaign with an open letter from the industry, shows how much we need each other.

All artists, audiences, industry and media in the smallest spaces are the biggest stories. This circuit is the Cavern of the 1960s transported across the land in the 21st century. Let’s start something new all over again. History has never been so historic or future so futuristic. TheZineUK are day dreamers documenting deliciously dramatic diversions… Listen out.

The bright young things who sparkle on stage, the opportunities that This Feeling gives to up and coming writers, photographers, film makers and promoter reps, has made alternative rock and pop’s collaborative interdependent sector an exciting movement.

Previous Big In babes can attest. Ask The Chase, Gen and the Degenerates, Megan Wyn, Spangled, Cobain Jones, Fitzroy Holt, Coco and the Lost, Lock-In about their adventures. It’s fair to say that Crawlers, The Struts, Trampolene, Emily Capell, Red Rum Club, The Lathums, Bang Bang Romeo, Dead Freights, Strange Bones and The K’s have made their next level mark, too.

Big In 2023, and bigger. With all that’s going on in what passes for “reality”…

“…you’ve got to FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT to party”
(Beastie Boys)

Party HARD. Here’s wishing the very best, especially, to artists of the last ten years as they organically take off, at different rates with individual stories, like planes from Zone Airport Runway.

Seeya there!
