A spark and energy that has been carried over into their latest single 'Meet the Shadow'. A song that tackles the idea of Carl Jung's theory of the shadow self, a theory that every human has parts of themselves they wish to reject or ignore and only through acknowledging our shadow can we fully integrate all parts of ourselves. The cinematic influences are clear for this video; it is visually beautiful and has a Lynchian quality to it that not only captures the duality of man but also the complexity.

TheBigBadSad.’s (all one word, full stop at the end.) Shake Me Down was that track. For a band who are adamant not to be compared to other bands, I am perhaps at risk of incurring the wrath here when I say it gave me echos of bands I used to hear at early Cave Club nights (RIP Buffy Bar, we love you). That Mecca for us Gothy teens who didn’t quite catch the indie wave. Anyway, talking of a rabbithole, I was soon recommending Venus De Milo, The Loot and others to everyone that would listen, and booking a train down to Bristol to see self-styled gloom rock goth cowboy’s TheBigBadSad live, dragging Opia Photos all the way from Scotland to document the adventure.

Especially since we took a early weekend adventure along to beloved Wales to see our good friend's at R*E*P*E*A*T present an evening marking the 50th year since the Chilean Military Coup that saw the CIA backed overthrow and assassination of Marxist president Salvador Allende, the murder and disappearances of thousands of Chilean people and the rise of dictator Pinochet.
