Roobi or not Roobi? That is the question. The answer is most definitely yes. Music fans are really gonna get off on GET ON!
Would you like to be part of new music life in 2021? I’ve been enticed to Roobi Live’s on line session and interview show, GET ON! and can recommend it after catching the first episode.
Credible artists (yes, with guitars as well as potential) have been scouted with suss, recorded with love and professionally presented in high definition audiovisuals that make me think “like Later, but Earlier and Edgier”. Presented by music journalist, Louise Schofield, GET ON! is informal and inviting.

Hardwicke Circus, The Velvet Hands and The Pylons kicked off Episode 1 (April 30th)
I experienced up and comers filmed, recorded and produced with loving creativity (high res details like amps, mics and audience/band member angles).
The audio prompted my flat mate to come in and ask if I was listening to a record.
Roobi Live already create professional, concert and video content (oh and they also like doggies as TheZineUK noted at the end of a day’s filming in April.
Presented on the broadcast quality Vimeo platform with no ads, it is more than worth a month’s free trial to support the artists and crew by checking it out, and less than a quid a week if you want to stay involved.
Episode 2 (from May 7th) features the gorgeously rich tones of Eleni Drake, effortlessly cool Annabel Allum, alternative pop exciters, Kin (caught their superb recording!) and the deliciously dramatic Anna Wolf.
Created during Winter 2020/Spring 2021 lockdown, there’s an extra poignancy to GET ON!
A building resource - “A&Rmchair” - for ticket buyers, media, promoters, festival bookers and industry alike to scout new favourites.
The artist’s fans get a close up experience, I feel.
Hats off to essential biz insider, Kelly Munro (End Of The Trail Creative), for helping to pull together a line-up of names that, so far, would already make a zeitgeist poster if it was a festival.
GET ON! brings to life and proof what TheZineUK documentary is about.
We dispute the sofa-critics who thought it was all over for guitar bands, five years ago without spending time in the crackling small venues.
With so many influences in their lives the 21st century is increasingly genre fluid and it feels like this side of musical groups and solo artists has been explored.
We’ve already seen some music world dreams flourish and others crash over the last year in ways none of us could have imagined. We’re still going and so are many of the friends that we have made as live music fanatics and promoters.
The talent and drive of our cast and crew, who are part of so much more, help give heart and hope back to a decimated industry and world, so with sets that are compelling in their variety, this online TV programme is timely.
In Episode 1, I got to see Hardwicke Circus, admittedly not in a venue, as I’d previously envisaged what seems like forever ago now, but from the comfort of my own home. They do the big band sound with the consumate professionalism honed at whatever venues they can play, that makes the E Street Band and Red Rum such festival favourites.

Finding out how the musicians actually are, in the after-set interviews is a bonus. The planet’s population have been through a trauma together and it’s not over yet. Louise Schofield puts people at ease and is part of the up and coming entertainment world which is more diverse and female powered than festival bills and mainstream articles asking “where are all the _______?” without mentioning (or maybe being aware of) them.
Rising under the radar is a mine-stream of gold threads woven into our tapestry (which includes Katie Owen who DJ’d at the key Sefton Park event a few days GET ON! launched). It’s all part of an organic ecosystem where TheZineUK team wishes all the best for our friends and it’s a pleasure that we can’t keep up with what’s taking off left right and centre again.

There’s a thirty day free trial option if you want to try before you fly or are just skint and want to spread the word and support a vital addition to the multi media in support of reviving the live circuit.
Obviously most attention is focused on high profile/price events and names - but without including the fresh seeds that we see blooming, some events are starting to look deja-vu stale.
Fresh, and with no hint of clique condescension, charismatic twinklers (with/without PRs/pluggers) are on the web’s level playing stage.

I enjoyed a glimpse behind the scenes at Chelsea’s iconic 606 club while noting the production skills to whet my appetite for the finished product.
Time was spent between catching up with friends, (largely giggling with the joy of being in the same room as musicians performing live) while the artists set up and then awed hush during the video recording of multiple high end skilled sets.
Watch GET ON!, and your’re witnessing the interdependent newer wave falling into place.
Regular readers of TheZineUK will know that it made of kismit and situationist magick. Along with a community that includes a Witch, a Genie, two Wizards, Mr Moon, The Lord Of The Lobsters, the magician Eugenius and Dizzy Spell as an editor via Lullaby Lou, the enigmatic Anna Wolf found me a few days ago. I was so knocked out by her astounding video, ‘GONG’, that I responded and explored more.
A few hours later, Roobi Live announced the line up for Episode 2 and boom, synchronicity happened again when I saw her name on the line up. I think everything is a sign so I followed up my first message with another and now here we all are in this magical mystery tour.
I had got a very warm feeling from the filming sessions which I attended (thanks for the invitations, Kelly!) and wondered how it was for Anna?
Filming the show at Club 606 was so much fun, not only was the venue perfect for the production but the entire Roobi crew were extremely gracious and welcoming.
To play an online show of this kind after months of not being on stage was truly a beautiful and energetic experience.

As an observer, GET ON! really did feel welcoming, relaxed and mutually engaged. It makes for a natural performance and atmosphere to tune in for. I got a bit emotional at times after the last year (and a little tipsy one of the days, calm down Caff). Anyway, the finished product is here now music lovers, I hope that you enjoy it too.

Last century The Cavern, Eric’s, CBGBs, The 100 Club etc played host to 21st century heritage artists before arenas, stadiums and megasized festivals were a thing. Now we’re starting (the world) all over again.
