Uniqulture’s Arts Hearts: Rising

Fusing performers, creators, dreamers, supporters. A kindly house party, with cake. Events Dept. memory from a music tourism tip, The Social in Fitzrovia.

TheZineUK arrived, founded in Uniqulture, March 2014 with punk and poetry.

Documenting seeds of stardust fuel a fertile environment. A decayed of punky situationist whimsy alongside other interdependent allies.

2024 proceeds at the rate of a week every day?

Parallel dimensions of psycho-trolls -v- poetic souls is measured (by TheZineUK anyway) in gigs, events and festival dates. These need finance to happen. Some sponsors are problematic for the moral conscience.

Nobody is perfect but it’s a Braver New World and the Resistance ®Evolution is developing. Children of all ages are an educated and empathetic new unity in a genocidal, eco criminal eruption of corruption.

United, We’ll Keep Improving.

Meet Generation A

One flag on the world stage is the most flown and displayed. Every chapter TheZineUK’s reported (perfectly imperfectly), feels like the deliciously diverse newer wave of under the radar rock n roll music industrious are SuperNature’s intent.

Hence the Fertile Environment HAPPENING despite the hisstablishment’s hostile one.

Not The Great Escape, Not The Alt Escape but an alt-alt-escapism of Total Interdependence Festivity - getting by with a little help from our friends.

Expo/Music Tourism

March is annually SXSW, Austin, Texas

2023 TheZineUK repping (down the front for Brooke Combe) at the British Music Embassy to begin the People’s Music Tourist Board then, at Vancerts, where the first word spotted is “Magic

2024. Supersponsors? RIP SXSW especially the tone deaf response from local government to the music world. “Es Ex Es Double U” (as a recent profiled music industry event called it) is planning to plonk SXSWLondon into the June 2025 ecosystem of the UK festival calender and grassroots music venue circuit. Sigh…

It feels like that was the last real SouthBySouthWest. Because…

2024’s main talking point was artist boycotts where, ironically, they probably got their names mentioned more than usual in UK/Ireland press. We’re proud to have been a media partner of Vancerts. Teenage Sequence thanked them.

Totally unofficial independent stages for the WIN. This was Vancerts ATX 2024 being loved during the SXSW boycotts…

March was also Expo 01 though.

LOVE power.

Not a bad representation of how the evening of live rock n roll music, poetry, audiovisuals and socialising went, in the end!

April 2024

CroCroLand (our doc blog) was the sold out weekend of uniqulture, artists/allies everywhere. Friends hugging under the moon. Such escapism, that leaving to discover WW3 was being attempted was surreal. Oi, war wankers, when Ms Mohammed sings ‘Never Again’, we’re with her!

Believe it - CroCroLand "An uprising of (40!) bands and music fans" - Expo 02 was, indeed, pretty much like this!

May 2024

The Great Escape is over shadowed by peaceful protest. Events take a couple of years advance programming so festivals and sponsors have time to consider/fix 2025 onwards.

Eurovision/Euronazivision, whatever, it’s an absolute catastrophuck in a week of BOOs (and bees!). (Mass Murder: still bad)

Ironically for this “once a song contest” bollox, It’s the week of Hind’s Hall by Macklemore (click link for the video - all proceeds to https://www.unrwa.org/ - the majority of us actually ARE united by music. Just not this genocidal apologist art-washing. 10% of the Malmo population protested this event. Generation A baby.

Mindless thugs beat students for being educated/moral.

We’re in some Dr Who reality warpfusion of 42 dystopian movies.

Simultaneously.

With a Shitting Image remix by The Muppets retold as a fairy tale. Wicked greedy “royals” included.

Retarted (as in having an extra jam tart) eh? Ha ha… BLOCKED!

Example - UK (Unprincipled Kleptocracy)

In Westminster/Pestmonster, a tory prime sinister was beaten by a lettuce, but they themselves beat the current (unelected) “leader” whose candidate for London Mayor was some mad bigot. The local fascists, Britain First, wereas beaten by Count Binface . BritainLast, then. Sadiq Khan, Mayor Of London acknowledged Count Binface who did the journalists job for them and asked zionaziradioLBC where their disappeared journalist, Sangita Myska, was. Dafuq?

This is what happens when the oh-so-superior-to-us-daft “wokeratti” adults are in charge. The professionals, experts, institutionalised, establishment are in charge…They and their toadies are so IN “the box”.

ANNA WOLF ‘Mother’ single/video

“It’s OK To Not Be OK”

Available now on all streaming platforms https://linktr.ee/RealAnnaWolf

‘Mother’ is a powerful new song from the star shaped, multi-talent-tasking, Anna Wolf,

Tunefully heartfelt, the aim is to be an enigmatic salve where grief from loss, in it’s many forms, comes from so many angles.

The result is a stark and beautiful comfort which reaches out with winter cool chords and solace warm vocals that are simultaneously fragile, strong and lyrically relatable;

I don’t wanna breathe when you’re not here”

‘Mother’ is for the many.

“As some of you may know, this is a very personal song for me, I wanted to capture the raw essence of grief and acknowledging that it's okay to not be okay... I have lost a few very close people to me over the past three years and it has not been easy”.

The song serves as a source of solace and hope if you are struggling to move forward after losing a loved one, reminding you that you are not alone and that healing is possible, even with a broken heart."

Anna Wolf

Click here for the video for ‘Mother’

The video is a short film at one with itself, the song and performance. A personal artist and audience one-to-one feeling is created by the cinematic simplicity of being filmed with music photography legend, Paul Harries; one on one:

One camera, one tripod and one torch creating one sonic drama. The trust from their friendship and working relationship makes for personal viewing.

Multi-talent tasking?

There are many layers to Anna Wolf, an artist who has achieved much but still has more to be revealed.

The eternal invention of presenting soundscapes being one facet. Then there’s the experience of Anna Wolf’s live show: A main stage drama. Hooked and down the front again for the launch of Kick Out The Jams new venue (Two Palms at Hackney Empire) recently. Anna Wolf and her band are a world class rock show! - Room. Stunned. Again.

Forever Young

As 2024 looms, Anna Wolf‘s big-screen debut is the (already award winning) new movie ‘Forever Young’. (FB movie trailer)

An imaginative sci-fi drama, directed by Hank Pretorius. It’s currently showing in USA and Canada - with South African screenings in December. Anna Wolf’s music is on the soundtrack, a perfect setting for such cinematic sound.

An Artist to investigate but also look forward to

‘Mother’, is it’s own short film and could, in many ways, be a song for the loss of the world that we thought we knew. For many, this decade, especially…

The lasting impression of the song, which prompted this feedback article, is a balance between outpouring and resilience. Empathetic art like this, transports us to future hopes. All is not lost.

Music, Food, Drink, Joy… at Brighton's newest LGBTQ+ Bar & Restaurant. A proper treat!🌈

This event is extra special because of how this documentary rolls, amidst what’s happening right now. This is one of the interdependent music industrious that seed the Fertile Environment.

In December 2022, rock n roll live music promoter, Kick Out The Jams i.e. Roger Kent of Kent had to stop presenting joyful entertainment because of the financial climate that our new music world finds itself in.

Major events need a “pipeline” of fresh talent to exist in the future. In turn, that pipeline, The Grassroots Circuit needs the oxygene of cash, faith and exposure to be the early doors enablers for the artists to take a next step. It’s a struggle tho - see Music Venue Trust etc for more on that!

It’s extra heart warming then, to see the #BrightonMixUp festivity of noisy fun return for a third time lucky.

A select line-up, that we highly recommend to our friends - and you should, too. Sparkly, funny, inclusive crowds. Afternoon to evening showing off (on stage and otherwise!). Credible quality, mind. Some faves are returning to the KOTJ stage for this show amidst new stars joining the extending family.

Come with mates. Come solo. Bring your groovy moves, laughter and stage style while mingling with key scouts and music documentarians or just chill and enjoy in a safe space.

No tickets, badges, laminates or wristbands are needed (though this event is consistently attended by sussed music industry and media from other events happening in Brighton over the same weekend).

Not surprising really…

Kick Out The Jams has previously also presented A Void, Aargh Kid, Anna Wolf, Avalanche Party, Bang Bang Romeo, Berries, BLAB, Blackwaters, The Blinders, Bugeye, Calva Louise, Coach Party, Cross Wires, Cruel Hearts Club, Enjoyable Listens, False Heads, Fontaines D.C., Hawxx, Healthy Junkies, The Institutes, Jekyll, Mango In Euphoria, MOSES, Nadia Sheikh, Rews, Saint Agnes, Snayx, Trampolene, Vanity Fairy, The Velvet Hands, Voodoo Radio, Weekend Recovery, Wynona Bleach and MANY more names to KNOW since 2017!

Often needing a bigger venue.

We bear witness.
Mid May 2023, you can, too. It’s time to KICK OUT THE JAMS!, m…

#BrightonMixUp

Alternative music documenting inspirations

#Zeenagers EXPO is go

As a documentary, #TheZineUK doesn’t function on the chart/competition December/January Listmas format of music sites any more than running regular reviews etc. The following names are from on line conversations, What’s App and gig chats. Nowt from December’s version of Twitter.

As usual, doing our own situationist thing outside “how it’s supposed to be done” and social media trends, the story evolves organically outside of major hype but noticeably. From this tapestry, there are Weekend Recovery, Cold Water Swimmers, Feral Five and Cross Wires amidst albums coming in 2023. Bands who are creating notable legacies for their names.

If you’ve ever been aware of our Picture Story Diary Doc (first uploaded Spring 2014), you’ll notice the Fertile Environment seeding in a variety of real time. Some developing into unimaginable moments that, when they happen, make total and deserved sense. Bands come, go, evolve, get on, sod off as things go right or wrong. When wider attention hits, ya love to see it, right?

Decolonise Fest stars Big Joanie, Nova Twins and Bob Vylan playing this year’s Glastonbury Festival and being half of the inaugural MOBO altnernative music group nominations this year, is a strong case in point.

There are so many more of our cast and crew from TheZineUK pages and socials! We couldn’t make it up. We don’t have to. Bang Bang Romeo toured with Pink, False Heads in the charts, Benefits all over the place. Here’s 42 Seconds of The Mysterines by Monefa Walker for her interview with them for TheZineUK, early 2020. They’re on tour with Arctic Monkeys in 2023.

2017: Monefa Walker (astrologer, writer, witch and, most recently recorded and released and acclaimed classical musician) and Katie Owen (DJ host of TheZineUK + friends #MusicPeopleParty No.1, presenter and since this pic BBC Radio 1, Leeds Festival host, World Cup 2022 reporter and so much more). That’s just in short. Big up all our cast and crew. Image by Caffy at Minx Media HQ, cheers Heather Minx!

Working Class women powered (with Tory-unfriendly-heritages and political views) TheZineUK’s 2023 adores the diversity of backgrounds and foregrounds of generation tremorists (i.e. all ages, it’s the 21st century!) in the vanguard of newer wave music industrious movement.

Big up the grassroots venue circuit, the likes of Music Venue Trust and Independent Venue Community and please play respect to all the technicians, promoters, producers, presenters, DJ and expanded fun-fam of media/industry and audiences support that makes this a genuine game changing era. The documenting by photographers, writers and film makers is incredible. The illustrations and graphics are part of the exhibiton. We need each other.

This music site x events creator may be only a small “Rocking Pebble” or “New Whimsical Express”, but our inclusion ain’t delusion. Everybody’s invited, watch all their/our spaces.

2018. That time the legendary promoter and connector, Kick Out The Jams (rock n roll circus) hosted a night of good mixing that has become one of music’s “I Swear I Was There” moments. Roger Kent of Kent and his extended fam of fun signed off with a final event in December 2022 but is a space worth watching for future hopes. The line ups helped to fuel what is happening. It’s All Happening!

Uniqulture’s tapestry weaves through the interaction, co-promotion and collaboeration of friends, strangers or otherwise. We’ll document 2023 with a view to creating the Zeenagers Expo from the reality of soundtracking escapism from dystopia’s now and next…

Gen and the Degenerates wowing This Feeling’s Leeds/London festival ReWired in August. Spotting members of JW Paris in the crowd, this is one of the live music clubs where musicians and their followers make friends with like minded souls. We doff our documenting cap to Simon Williams of Fierce Panda. In the newer wave are a wealth of 1990s shapers involved with guiding, while learning from, up and comers of the scenes. The beauty of generation tremorists is ideas and experience exchanging excitedlly. A revision of the widespread zoomer-v-boomer division. Instead, the tunes go zoom, results go boom. Woven into our tapestry, respect to you all!

Thanks for reading/creating/performing/supporting this genuine arts movement.

If you would like to be involved in the new rock n roll as an artist or an ally then coming to small venue shows is your friendliest finishing school and networking club.

For TheZineUK doc it kinda feels like guitar blessed scenes and anti-scenes are evolving in plain site.

Consider that for most of the artists concerned, their main media is social media.

Thanks to sussed allies in radio, on music sites and on playlists alongside audiences on side, they get a boost. Fans are definitely a key to artist and event survival in the dystopian age and the Cost Of Greed Crisis.

In the backdrop of real life an outstanding soundtrack that is under the radar! But when you’re THERE, it’s definitely over the rainbow.#

These events? BE THERE if you can, friends. Trust.

Nottingham in the house! Making friends at REWIRED 2021

There are interdependent promoters and grassroots music venues across Britain Ireland making exciting new things happen with people’s biggest power, passion.

In these dark and frankly cruel times, come and hang with some kind people. You may find new friends or new fave talents.

TheZineUK has attended all of the above mentioned events.

Can recommend as feelgood fun and friendly. Music is soul food AND spirit medicine.
